Dedication of Roberto "Bobby" Salcedo Administrative Center
The El Monte City School District Board of Education had a special ceremony honoring the late Roberto "Bobby" Salcedo on Saturday August 28, 2010. The administration building was officially named the Roberto "Bobby" Salcedo Administrative Center. There was a dedication of a plaque in his memory that will be placed in the newly remodeled district administration office lobby.
The plaque summarizes the inspiration that Bobby was to many of us, the education institutes he served and the community as a whole. The Kiwanis Club of El Monte was pleased to be part of the celebration by providing funds for the plaque along with the Wayne C. Clayton Foundation helping to sponsor the refreshments for this event. Bobby was an active member of both organizations.
Among those present were Congresswoman Judy Chu and her husband, Assemblyman Mike Eng, El Monte City officials, members of the El Monte City Police Department, members of Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 166 & 168, family members, other education officials and the community. The announcement by Assemblyman Eng that a portion of the 60 Freeway will be dedicated to Bobby's memory was really a wonderful addition to the event.
