Dear EMCSD Parents and Guardians,
Your child is attending a school receiving Title I federal funds through the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA, 2015). This Federal law requires that parents be notified when a teacher who has not demonstrated that he or she meets the additional ESSA teacher requirements has taught their child for four or more consecutive weeks.
Under ESSA, teachers of core academic subjects are required to hold a state certification and demonstrate subject matter competency for the grade span or subject matter taught. Newly hired Title I teachers must meet the ESSA requirements when hired. These requirements help us to ensure that all of our students receive the best education from teachers who are highly skilled and knowledgeable in their subject area.
For the 2024-2025, El Monte City School District has determined that one hundred percent of its teachers have met all required state certifications and subject matter competency. You may contact the El Monte City School District to request the qualifications for your child’s teacher. If you have any questions or request information, please call the EMCSD Personnel Office at (626) 453-3725.
Sincerely,
Doris Tran
