2022 Virtual Summer Academy Registration
Calling all prospective 2022 Virtual Summer Academy attendees! Our Class Selection Form is NOW OPEN and ready for you to enroll your EMCSD student in our enrichment-based virtual summer programming. Remember, this program is open to all EMCSD Kinder through 7th grade students. If your child is enrolled in our in-person summer program, don't worry, they can participate in both because the Virtual Academy takes place after our regular summer school schedule.
Our Virtual Summer Academy is free for ALL EMCSD Kindergarten - 7th grade students:
- Classes are designed and taught by EMCSD teachers
- All supplies are provided
- Classes are Monday - Friday from either 9am - 10am or 10:30am - 11:30am
- Registration is grade specific and on a first come first serve basis, so don't wait to sign up your student. Virtual Summer Academy is from July 11 - July 22.

Virtual Academy FAQs:
What is our Virtual Summer Academy? It is an enrichment-based program taught completely online. Classes are unique and created by our teachers! The academy is 2 weeks long and begins on Monday, July 11th. ALL materials will be provided for your child to participate in the program.
Can any EMCSD student sign up? YES! The academy is open to all current EMCSD Kinder through 7th grade students. Class availability is based on grade level and rosters are filled on a first-come first-serve basis.
What will be taught this year? It's two weeks of enrichment-based learning where students can sign up to learn about Cultural History, Digital Art, Video Editing, Virtual Field Trips, Reading, Creative Writing, Fitness, and much more! You can also see a complete class list for each grade level below.
What is the daily schedule like? Summer Virtual Academy classes begin July 11 and go until July 22. They are Monday through Friday from EITHER 9:00am - 10:00am OR 10:30am - 11:30am. Remember, classes are completely virtual and students participate from home.
What are next steps? Talk to your child and review the class list. Then select your classes on the form attached based on priority of interest. Once registration closes, you will be contacted by our Virtual Academy Administrators and Teachers on next steps. Deadline to sign up for Virtual Summer Academy is Friday, June 17.

Mr. Behr Presents Sliding into Google
In this online course of study, students will create a Google Slide presentation. The presentation will be entitled All About Me where students will share a variety of interesting facts about themselves using some of the simpler features in Google Slides as well as some more advanced techniques. We will also play some interactive games covering multiple content areas while exploring various Nearpod activities. Students will present their final projects to the class. That’s the best part! The Art of Cursive Handwriting with Ms. Soltero
Learn how to write in cursive! It’s a skill you will most likely need in the future. We will learn how to write lowercase and uppercase letters, connect letters, and write simple sentences. Let’s have fun, practice your future signature, and bring back this elegant form of writing.

Pilates involves low-impact exercises. These workouts can aid children’s physical and mental development and keep them fit and healthy in the long run.

If you enjoy reading but also love comics then you have come to the right place! Find joy and humor through reading graphic novels. Graphic novels are engaging, fun, deep novels that are written in the form of a comic book. Learn about different styles of writing and enjoy the illustrations that go with the stories. At the end of this course you will be able to make your own mini graphic story online!

We will keep our bodies and our minds fit through a variety of activities: Calisthenics, Aerobic Activities, Meditation, Health Awareness. “At the end of our time together you will be in better shape than when you started!” Each student will be expected to maintain a Fitness Log that will be utilized via Google Docs

Imagine you were shipwrecked on a deserted Island or lost in the remote Canadian Wilderness. Would you be able to survive? In this course you will explore ways to survive these situations by using math, science and critical thinking skills.
