Great Shake Out Earthquake Drill - Thursday, October 19
EMCSD will participate in the Great Shake Out on Thursday, October 19 at 9:00am through approximately 9:45am. During this time, all staff and students will be practicing their emergency response procedures.
All school office doors will be locked as the school practices evacuating to the playground. If parents or guardians need to pick up their student(s) during this time, they will need to enter through the side/back gate and there will be a station with personnel available to help locate the student at the field and retrieve them.
This drill centers on the Shakeout Earthquake Scenario, a realistic portrayal of what could happen in a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on the southern end of the San Andreas Fault. ShakeOut began in Southern California in 2008. Since then ShakeOut has grown to include participation across the United States and several other countries. More than 30 million people worldwide participated in 2021.
Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills are annual opportunities to learn and practice earthquake safety with millions of people worldwide!
