hello El Monte City School District family learning as a result of the pandemic I am grateful for our school Community came together to support one another today we have served 1.5 million meals we distributed 4,000 Chromebook and over 1,000 hotspots through the Health crisis let me Express that are out with Chad Tepper it's in the spring we're crisis learning since then we have been working tirelessly to create systems that would allow us to Pivot in any situation whether it's in person or distance and researching programs that will increase student achievement Governor Newsom guidelines for schools state of Illinois Department of Public Health along with input from our parents and staff have to take the best course of action for our district and we will begin the year with the distance learning platform day of school for students will be August 20th School District plan for more detailed information please visit our website distance learning students will be spending time in an instruction with their teacher in home group or small group settings and then working independently On Assignment these assignments may be done online virtually or in their books there are two key elements to how students are taught during distance learning is learning in real time this is called synchronous learning be engaged either as a distance learning this generally happens if a video instruction second is learning independently this is called asynchronous learning how to sing with the teacher-student shift to working independently completed Hands-On tasks or online assignments on their own these tasks include an online program or printed material similar to help classrooms operate when a teacher works small groups of students pacifically class everyday online as within class instruction attendance is mandatory it is important to all students to be online when they are expected to be present plans for each week posted on Monday morning for parents and students know what to expect we will be using a seesaw and Google classroom for 4 through 8th grade music and PE will continue listen to teachers will follow schedules and ensure students receive music and physical education each week examples of the types of schedules are classic might see notice the difference between two group instruction and three group instruction ensure our teachers options at hand to differentiate instruction as needed for their unique groups of students sometimes have a sister share with the first few weeks of school will look like a special younger students during the first weeks of school we will focus on connecting with students expectation and creating a foundation for this year this will include building relationships between students and teachers, new classmates and instruction formats appropriate to their individual education plan elements in person or virtually also are English Learners will receive English language development classes acquiring English the district has $800,000 in technology tools that includes 2,000 new Chromebooks are buds 2500 Chromebook laptop bags in addition to the Thousand provided to Stew during spring currently our Tech teams are preparing these tools for our students we expect to equip every student with the device before the start of the school year in the days to come all principles will be communicating with families to let you know when to pick up your child schools supplies at their schools this include Chromebooks textbook school materials such as pencils tapers crayons and glue sticks El Monte city school district will continue to provide all schools and provide meals on the first day after which we will shift to a distribution with a rotation at all School sites we will share more information about the schedule as a details are finalized how many city school district has also committed to continuing our support of family wellness this includes providing social emotional support options as well as ensuring our staff is trained to recognize when students need additional guidance El Monte city school district is committed to staying in constant communication with our families we are pleased to introduce a new Communications Square pattern squares and communication and organization tools designed to keep you informed and involved in your school Community this two-way communication school will be used by teachers to connect with students and their parents and parents to connect the teachers as well as District of Cherokee updates continue to hold virtual town hall information on our district and school website parent or social media sites we know how hard it is to feel connected when we can't meet face-to-face these pools replace that they will keep us as engaged as possible as
