TK Kinder Readiness Academy

El Monte City School District’s (EMCSD) TK Kinder Readiness Academy is a no-cost, hybrid learning experience designed to foster student and family engagement. Through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning, the overall goal is to emphasize the importance of early childhood education in order to ease new students and their families into their educational careers.

TK Kinder Readiness Academy is here to ease the home-to-school transition through meaningful activities promoting literacy, basic mathematics, and social-emotional learning. Our Academy builds a foundation for community and family involvement with our youngest students and families prior to starting their first years in school. By giving our students a strong foundational start, we hope to ensure high performance, growth, and development amongst our students.

During our Academy, students are taught a variety of topics including:
  • Alphabet knowledge
  • Cognitive development
  • Creativity
  • Numbers & mathematics
  • Nursery Rhymes & early reading skills
  • Print concepts
  • Science concepts
  • Social & emotional wellbeing

Part of EMCSD’s foundational start is eliminating barriers for families right above the income threshold to qualify for Early Head Start, Head Start, and State Preschool programs. TK Kinder Readiness is offered during the summer to our entire community at no cost. Families who are enrolled in our academy have access to:
All supplies needed to be successful in the program, including an iPad and internet hotspot
Networking opportunities with fellow parents, students, and teachers
Upon completion of the program, students are given a free school uniform and supplies

This program is designed to give students confidence in their ability to learn and lead, while also empowering parents to help their children be prepared for school.
