Students Take Podcasting, First-Aid, and Music at Rio Hondo College

El Monte City School District students spent last week in Rio Hondo College’s CTE (Career Tactical Education) Program. The program offers 7th and 8th grade students hands-on learning opportunities with cutting-edge technology that explores first aid, CPR, health science, and podcasting. Click headline to read more!
Free Summer Meals for All Students

FREE Summer Meals for ALL KIDS!

Starting June 12, EL Monte City School District will offer FREE Breakfast & Lunch to any child under the age of 18. You don't have to live in the city of El Monte or attend a EMCSD school to get a meal free of charge, you just need to stop by the school cafeteria at these locations!

Monday-Friday
8:00am - 8:45am Breakfast
11:00am - 11:45am Lunch

Available at Columbia, Durfee, Potrero, Shirpser, Rio Hondo, Rio Vista, and Wright School.

*We will be closed on June 19 and July 4

Since Southern California’s first school was constructed here in 1852, El Monte has honored the education of its children and has grown into a thriving community of fourteen schools, which incudes five California Distinguished Schools and six ERP Honor Roll Schools, all dedicated to preparing our students for the challenge of a 21st century education.
