Welcome to the El Monte City School District Nutrition Services Department!
Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand. The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. OUR MISSION is to provide students with wholesome meals and high quality nutrition programs that promote lifelong healthy habits and academic success.
We provide students with access to a variety of fresh and wholesome foods through our many programs including Breakfast in the Classroom, Universal Free Meals, Lunch Box Buddies, Afterschool Supper and Snack, and Summer School Meals. All meals and snacks provided by our department to students on campus are FREE. Meals, foods and beverages served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. In addition, our Nutrition Services Department helps to create healthy school environments and supports the District Wellness Policy by providing schools access to nutrition education resources and healthy celebration alternatives.
