Community, Students Take Part in Census 2020 Chalkathon

More than 25 students and community members put chalk to sidewalk during El Monte City School District’s Census 2020 Chalkathon on Sept. 26, helping to raise awareness about the importance of the once-a-decade count.

The Census count – for which only days remain – helps to determine funding for community services such as schools and hospitals.

For 230 years, America has used the Census to help determine how to funnel resources into our communities. We all need to take part to ensure our community receives its fair share.

Personal information provided for the Census is protected by law and will not be shared with any other federal agency. The 2020 Census asks no questions about citizenship. The process is safe, secure and confidential.

The Census can be filled out online at my2020census.gov.
