If you would like to enroll in-person, our dedicated school office staff will be more than happy to assist you. Please visit one of our school offices -- we recommend calling ahead of time so they can tell you the best time to register to ensure you have a smooth enrollment experience. If you are a family that lives outside our attendance boundary, but wants to enroll your student in an El Monte City School District School. Check out our Permits webpage to see how you can get your student enrolled in our award-winning district!
We are excited to announce that in the 2024-2025 school year, EMCSD is introducing six (6) Enrichment Fridays. Enrichment Fridays give us the flexibility to rethink how we approach school with our students and families. We believe students learn best if we can provide them with experiences, and these Enrichment Fridays will reshape how we approach the student experience at EMCSD. The six Enrichment Fridays are:
  • November 1, 2024
  • January 31, 2025
  • March 14, 2025
  • March 28, 2025
  • April 11, 2025
  • May 23, 2025
 
Student attendance is optional on the six (6) Enrichment Fridays listed above. If parents choose to send students to school, our schools will be open on these days and programming will be designed to engage students beyond traditional learning. More information about the programming on these days will be shared in the coming weeks.
El Monte City School District is proud to offer comprehensive enrichment experiences to all students, available both before and after school. Before school care starts as early as 6:30am, while after school care goes until 6:00pm. All at no-cost to families.

General Communication
At El Monte City School District, we understand the importance of clear and informative communication. We use ParentSquare to communicate with all parents and guardians. This includes messages from your child's school and teacher, local resources, conference sign-ups, school events, and so much more! Each year, El Monte City School District shares our Annual Notification of Parent & Guardian Rights to families our students. It includes up-to-date information on the rights and responsibilities of students, parents, staff, and school district. You can access it on the handbook webpage.
All EMCSD students will receive a student-Chromebook to be used for school purposes.

Returning to School on Monday, January 13

No School- January 10

With the fire spreading and the shift in wind patterns expected to bring more smoke to our local area, all schools, including Head Start, will be CLOSED on Friday, January 10th, 2025. School will resume Monday, January 13.

NO SCHOOL - January 8th due to Severe Winds

Enrichment Friday #2: Music & Art in the World is scheduled for Friday, January 31, 2025! There is no school UNLESS you register your student for our Enrichment Friday. Learn more by clicking the headline.

Students Love Enrichment Fridays!

EMCSD kicked off its first Enrichment Friday last month with the Robots & You theme and a successful outcome of joyful students. These optional school days offer students unique opportunities to explore themes outside the traditional classroom environment. With six Enrichment Fridays planned this year, students can dive into hands-on activities, discover new interests, and connect with others in a creative, relaxed setting. Durfee Students Learn About Spanish Drácula

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students in the Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program at Durfee School screened the 1931 Spanish adaptation of Drácula and enjoyed a captivating presentation from Alejandra Espasande, a film researcher and curator at the LA Cultural Preservation Society. Ms. Espasande shared insights into the often-overlooked or unknown history of Latin representation in early Hollywood films. Click headline for more info.

Measure ME - EMCSD School Facilities Bond on November 2024 Ballot

EMCSD will have a bond on the November 2024 ballot. The bond is designed to provide more funding for EMCSD schools to update facilities, improve health and safety, and expand green spaces and performing arts spaces. Click headline to learn more.
